How do I introduce the new puppy to my other animals?

You can introduce the new addition to the other animals right away, but be sure to stay in the room to see how they react. Puppies are usually anxious to play with other animals, be they cats or dogs. The older animals in your home may be a little less enthusiastic. Regardless of what happens, there usually is no danger to either the puppy or your other pets. If the puppy is afraid, he or she will find some safe place to hide. If the other pets are unsure, they will find a way to avoid the new puppy till they are ready to explore. Rarely will they do harm to each other. And the rule of thumb is give them a month. In that time, nearly all the animals in the family have either become great friends or, at a minimum, have learned to co-exist.
