Alternatives to declawing your cat.

Many clients call concerned about declawing their cats. They don't want to do it, but they also do not want their furniture (or their children) scratched up. Everybody had heard in the past about trimming their toenails and trying to get them to use a scratching post. But there is also something called Soft Paws. They are plastic nail covers that you can put on your cat's claws so when they scratch, they do not do any damage. We have used them a lot in the past. If you are diligent about changing them every few months, they do work well. Ask your veterinarian about them.
