Reptiles
Reptiles are by far the most diverse group of animals and require
specific care. It is very important to learn all you can about a
certain species before attempting to keep it as
a pet. Knowing the animal's feeding habits, preferred diet and basic
needs is crucial.
What is the best type of reptile for a beginner?
There are many factors to be considered: what type of reptile or
amphibian interests me? How much money do I have to spend? How much
room do
I have to delegate to my pet's enclosure? How much time and funds
do I have to spare in regards to maintenance and feeding of my pet?
A few good picks for a first reptile pet would be a Leopard Gecko,
Bearded Dragon, or Blue Tongue Skink. Iguanas adn Green Anoles may
be cheap, but they require specialized lighting and enclosures to
be happy and healthy over the long haul. However, even the most
delicate and hard to keep species can make a good first pet if you
have focused on that species, read everything you can find, and
give it the
correct environment.
